California 100 Paddle Sport Ultra-Marathon Clinic

Our friends at Rivers for Change are hosting California's first Paddle Sport ultra-marathon on May 25th, the California 100. This is a 100 mile race from Redding to Chico along the Sacramento River. But the cool thing is that they are having a Race Clinic on April 6th on the Russian River, which will be great practice for you if you're in our Race! And, if you register for our Race, you will get a special code that gives you 50% off of the clinic price.

Details: Clinic 3 - Saturday April 6, 2013 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. – Healdsburg, CA
Cost: $100 or $50 with the promotion code from your Cal 100 or GR3 registration confirmation email

Where/When/What
- Meet at Veterans Memorial Beach Park just off HWY 101 in Healdsburg.
- 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. – On land Ultra Kayak Race Clinic.
- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Drive to Alexander Valley Road Gravel Bar and paddle the 16 miles of river back to Veterans Memorial Beach.
- This Section of river is run all summer in recreational rental canoes so it is very doable, however, it has many technical sections offering opportunity to learn river navigation skills.
- Unlike the Sacramento River, there are shallow spots in this river. Skilled river readers can avoid all of them with a 4 inch under stern rudder, however there is opportunity to touch bottom. Kick up rudder are advised.
- We will use our own cars to work out shuttles
Additional Notes:
- This training session will be the actual race course for the Great Russian River Race. This is one of Northern California’s premier river races and is the perfect pre- California 100 event. It is a great opportunity to test your river skills and gauge your progress before the big event. More info at http://www.norcalpaddler.org/
