Healdsburg Presents Project -- Adopt-a-Family Program 2013

That old saying that it’s better to give than receive is really true. Just ask the sponsors and volunteers in the Healdsburg Presents Project — Adopt-a-Family program! “It has become an integral part of our holiday season,” says Sarah Hafner, a long-time sponsor. “My daughters and I spend an evening or two shopping for the gifts and then we all (husbands and boyfriends too) gather to wrap the gifts. .... For our family, it is the spirit of Christmas.”

For more than a dozen years the Healdsburg Presents Project has provided gifts for families in our community. The schools and other local agencies identify families in need, and they are matched with local businesses, organizations, and individual sponsors.

On Presents Project day the sponsors bring their wrapped gifts to the Boys and Girls Club in the morning and are excited to see the gym filled with gifts, including many shiny new bicycles. The families, who remain anonymous, come in the afternoon and are overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our community. Volunteers are available to transport families and gifts home. It is truly an uplifting and happy day.

If you would like to sponsor a family, make a donation or ask for more information about the Healdsburg Presents Project, please call Debbi Crapeau at 431-1344, Beth DeCoss at 433-2721, or Judy Douglass at 431-2385. All contributions are used to buy gifts for families as there are always more families than sponsors.
