Earth Day in the Plaza, 4/20

The left coast was out in full force at the Healdsburg Plaza, as the Earth Day Party from the Healdsburg High Progressive Club lived up to its billing

All the pieces were in place in the Healdsburg Plaza on a Saturday afternoon for a home-grown, if decidedly left-leaning, Earth Day celebration.

The booths will be set up throughout the Plaza werestaffed by environmental, justice, and community organizations, but it wasn't all talk.

“Mother Earth” presided over Mother Earth’s Children’s Garden for faice-painting, and there was a "Mother Nature" too, with a pet raccoon.

Arts from high schoolers and other local artists, a bake sale, petitions to sign and causes to celebrate.

During the time I was there, I learned more about the audio production team at Outer Voices, the new music store Speed Sound in town, the new Project Censored movie, and what the local ACLU is doing.

Speakers embracing both environmental and social justice causes and musical and dance performers kept the tone lively.
