Golfer Kurt Garritson Is Healdsburg Club Men's Champ

"Junior" Tamayo came in second in the June 8 tourney.

Kurt Garritson won the Men's Golf Championship last week at the Healdsburg Golf Club at Tayman Park.

The June 8 match was a competitive 36-hole day of play with Elias "Junior" Tamayo coming in second.

After 27 holes, Garritson was up by five, then Junior came back and tied the match on the 35th hole.

On the 36th tee box, both contenders hit into the wind and safely over the hazard  -- with Garritson almost pitching into the hole for an eagle.

He ended up with a birdie to win the match over Tamayo, who parred. Garritson shot a 70 and 75; Tamayo shot 75 and 71

At one point, Garritson had 22 pars in a row, and was even par after 27 holes.

While this was the club's annual tourney, smaller matches are usually played on third Sundays of the month at the facility located at 927 South Fitch Mountain Road.
