Grab and Go Kids: Museums and More

Fun things to do this week with kids.

1.   “Russian River Good Old Days” opens at the Healdsburg Museum!

Where/when: 221 Matheson St., Wed. – Sun.  11:00am – 4:00pm

Why go: See what fun Healdsburg-ers used to have on the Russian River—around Fitch Mountain and at Memorial Beach and dream of the fun to come as these fun days are recreated this year!  From their website: “Come see a scale model (diorama) of the Healdsburg Water Carnival and the Railroad Bridge with tiny floats and boats and listen to our professionally recorded audio tour comprised of 12-14 audio clips each presenting 2 minutes of interpretive information about a selected artifact or photo on display.”

2. Enjoy the Peanuts gang in all their zany glory and share your own family anecdotes on a “talk-back board,” too, at the Charles M. Schulz Museum!

Where/when: 2301 Hardies Ln., Santa Rosa 11:00am – 5:00pm Weekends 10:00am – 5pm

Why go: Whimsical fun and child oriented.

Pricing:  Adults $10 Children/Seniors $5

 

3.  Another museum on this weekend’s lineup—the Pacific Coast Air Museum where you can “Climb Aboard” the historic aircraft!

Where/when: 2230 Becker Blvd., Santa Rosa Sat./Sun. 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Why go: To “Climb Aboard” the DC6 Cockpit.

Pricing: $5.00/person; 12 and under free.

 

4.  How about a Beginners’ Bird Walk at Spring Lake?

Where/when: 393 Violetti Rd., Santa Rosa Sat. 8:30am – 11:00am

Why go: Ranger led walk will help you learn to identify local birds as well as those migrating.

Pricing: Free, but $6 per vehicle parking fee (or purchase an annual pass here).

 

5.  Environmental Discovery Center of Sonoma County

Where/when:  Spring Lake Regional Park, Violetti Rd., Santa Rosa. Wed. – Sun. Noon – 5:00pm

Why go: From their website:The Center offers multi-sensory, hands-on activities for people of all ages. Rotating exhibits focus on a different aspect of the natural resources of Sonoma County.”
