Fair trade, farmers market, art gallery and literary readings--Healdsburg's THE place to be!

1. Tonight: Fair Trade Healdsburg to appear before the City Council.  On tonight’s Healdsburg City Council agenda, the council will consider adopting a fair trade resolution. () City council chambers, 401 Grove St. 6pm.

2. Sample some Sonoma granola on Tuesday.  Shelton’s Natural Foods will host a Nana’s All Natural Handcrafted Foods granola tasting. Support local foods! 428 Center St., 11am–2pm

3. Tuesday-Saturday at Hammerfriar Gallery. Hammerfriar Gallery presents the ceramic sculpture of Penny Michel as well as the paintings and drawings of Mike Tinney.  132 Mill St. Ste. 101. Tues - Fri, 10-6 Sat, 10-5

4. The tomatoes are in at the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market! What’s better than those first, luscious ripe tomatoes? Support your local farmers as they bring good food right into town for you. Tuesdays at the Cerri Building parking lot, 4pm and Saturday in the parking lot behind Bear Republic 9am–noon.

5. Neil Simon’s ‘Rumors’ opens at the Raven Performing Arts Theater.  From their website: “As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity. If you enjoy laughing out loud, this is the show for you. Not recommended for young children (sexual theme).”115 North St., 8pm Adults: $20 advance $23 door Seniors and students: $15 advance, $18 door

6. Leah Lubin will read from her works at the Healdsburg Literary Guild’s Third Sunday Salon. From their press release, “Leah Lubin, author and artist, expresses herself on both canvas and the printed page with equal devotion and creative skill.” Sun., Aug. 21, 2:00–4:00pm, open mic sign-up 1:30pm. Healdsburg Senior Center, 133 Matheson St.
