Low-Hanging Wires Close U.S. Highway 101 In Windsor Area

An excavation crew knocked down a power pole on Hembree Lane.

By Bay City News Service

Traffic continues to be snarled on U.S. Highway 101 in the Windsor area this afternoon as crews work to remove low-hanging wires that briefly shut down the highway in both directions.

An excavation crew knocked down a power pole on Hembree Lane, which runs parallel to the highway, around 11 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Kerri Post said.

That caused the wires to dip too low across all lanes of the highway for big-rigs to pass, she said.

Initially, all lanes were closed on both sides of the highway and traffic was being diverted onto Old Redwood Highway, Post said.

As of 12:50 p.m., one lane was open in each direction.

Repair crews are at the scene working to install a new pole, Post said.
