12K LBS Of Spilled Grapes Shuts Down Lane On NB Highway 101 Near Windsor

The driver in a pickup truck hauling a trailer filled with grapes that overturned onto northbound U.S. Highway 101 near Windsor this afternoon suffered minor injuries, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

The incident was reported at 3:05 p.m. near Arata Lane. A Sig-alert was issued at 3:52 p.m., according the CHP.

One lane was blocked when about 12,000 pounds of grapes spilled from the 25-foot horse trailer attached to the pickup truck, according CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano.

The incident only involved the pickup truck, which was carry an overloaded trailer, he said.

Caggiano said the driver only suffered minor injuries.

The spill was cleared and the alert canceled around 4:30 p.m., according to the CHP.

The CHP has clarified that the pickup was hauling the trailer itself and overturned.

A pickup truck collided with another vehicle hauling a trailer full of grapes, which overturned and spilled thousands of pounds of grapes on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near Windsor this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported at 3:05 p.m. near Arata Lane. A Sig-alert was issued at 3:52 p.m., according the CHP.

The California Highway Patrol is on the scene of a traffic collision located on northbound US-101, north of Arata Lane in Windsor.

A pickup and trailer were involved which overturned and spilled an estimated 12,000 pounds of grapes onto the roadway.

The collision is currently blocking the northbound right hand lane.

As of now, there is not an estimated time of opening.

Heavy traffic congestion is reported by on scene CHP units in both directions of US-101 as a result of this collision.
