We're Gonna Have a Hot Time in Healdsburg

This week promises to bring the heat we missed this spring, so break out the sunscreen, bring on the water bottles and have a great time.

1. The Healdsburg Literary Guild has announced that applications for the 2012-2013 Literary Laureate are now being accepted.  See flyer at right or contact Ann Carranza 431-0365, Tom Mariani 537-5727 or e-mail healdsubrgliteraryguild@gmail.com.

2. Jazz is still hot in Healdsburg. Jazz 101: Journey into Jazz with Bennett Friedman.  From their announcement: “The[re] will be four 2-hour classes, on consecutive Wednesdays from 6 - 8 pm. They will be held at the Healdsburg High School Band Room, on the HHS campus (1024 Prince St. at Powell Ave). Admission is FREE. If you plan on attending please RSVP to info@healdsburgjazzfestival.org.” Classes: Tues., June 22, June 29, July 6, and July 13.

3. Rider Registration is open for the 25th Annual Healdsburg Harvest Century Bicycle Tour. There are three distances offered, 23, 37 or 60 miles.  Information here.  Register here.

4. The Pirates of Penzance opens at the Raven Performing Arts Theater on Friday.  This musical is the last of the season for the Raven Players. Shows through July 24. Tickets available at the Raven Players’ website here and at Copperfield’s Books.

5. The Summer of Zin at Dry Creek Vineyards on Sat., June 25, 1-4pm. From their website: “Come Twist and Shout under the Warm Summer Sun! Celebrate the music of the Beatles with The Sun Kings Bring your blanket, a low back chair, and sunscreen. Food and wine will be available for purchase.
