Charlie Musselwhite Throws a Party -- and What a Party It Was

A larger-than-life, heart-stopping finale to the Tuesdays in the Plaza concert series.

Hundreds of people packed the Healdsburg Plaza and surrounding streets Tuesday, dancing with abandon to the blues, Charlie Musselwhite-style.

Every inch of ground was either a throbbing dance floor or a wine and food spectator spot, with bodies overlapping head to toe in many places and bare feet finding ways to avoid being stepped on.

was a fitting performer for the exhuberant summer series.

"That was amazing," said Matthew Thompson, parks manager and arborist for concert organizer after Musselwhite had signed off, thanking the audience again and again.

"Thank you for a really good time," Musselwhite said.

People had begun staking out their spots for the 6 p.m. concert before 8 a.m. Tuesday. Unlike the other concerts in the series that started May 31, city workers closed off streets surrounding the Plaza at 4 p.m. to allow extra room for the "last concert of the summer series" crowd.
