Healdsburg Jazz Festival Launches Online Fundraising Drive

Organizers hope to raise $20,000 for the 2014 festival.

With this year's festival just a few months in the past, organizers are already looking to raise money to book acts for the 2014 Healdsburg Jazz Festival.

They're looking to the Internet to do so, and hope to generate $20,000 in donations by Nov. 1.

"We're doing this campaign to ensure we have the best jazz festival in the world, right here in Sonoma County," festival founder and director Jessica Felix says in a video posted to crowdfunding website indiegogo.

Next year's 10-day festival, the 16th annual, will feature a two-day blues concert led by harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite.

"You might know that jazz evolved from blues,” Musselwhite says in another video posted to the site. "So it’s only fitting to have blues at the jazz festival."

Organizers hope to use donations to book more acts, market the festival and more, Felix said.

Donors can receive perks like autographed CDs, premium concert seats, dinner with Musselwhite and more.
