Healdsburg Weekend Planner August 12-14

From three days of guitar bliss and a night out supporting the arts in Healdsburg to celebrating sustainability and walking the art walk, we've got you covered this weekend. See if there's something here for you.

Friday –Sunday:

Improve your playing and composing. Admire, order or purchase a custom made guitar from a luthier you meet. Enjoy the performances of great guitarists playing to entertain the guitar builders who make their music possible. The Healdsburg Guitar Festival is the world's premier exposition of handmade acoustic guitars. Try out the instruments and discuss your needs with over a hundred professional builders. Additionally, there's twenty-four workshops by some of today's most incredible performers and sought after instructors with subjects that include arranging and composing, playing styles, alternate tunings, and study techniques. Workshops are available for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. Relax at the outdoor stage where the festival workshop instructors perform between classes. All performances at both venues are included in admission.

Join artists and locals for a night out to support the arts in Healdsburg. The entire block of Plaza Street between Center & Fitch will be closed for an Art Night Out & the Silent Auction of the Tins of Imagination. 100 artists and local celebrities have created compelling, startling and often amusing works of art out of three inch metal tins. will show and auction off these mini masterpieces! There will also be live music by Maria Jameau and Blue Brazil.

If you go: Tickets are a $20.00 donation to the art center. Participants receive a glass of wine, raffle ticket, plus a full evening of art, food & live music to support the arts & art education in Healdsburg. Tickets available at the art center or by calling 707-433-6708 and will also be available at the gate the night of the event. The event is from 4:30 p.m.to 8 p.m. on Plaza Street in Healdsburg.

 

Saturday:

The Solar Living Institute invites you to join in a celebration of the sustainable lifestyle for an afternoon and evening of learning and entertainment at the Solar Living Center in Hopland. MoonDance delivers solar & sustainable education, featuring Solar Tech manufacturer's, demonstrations on sustainable practices:  wool spinning, herbal remedies; informative talks on energy efficiency, water conservation & food security.  There will be organic micro-brews on tap from the Ukiah Brewing Company, sustainable wines from Parducci Winery, healthy snacks, hand-built burritos and wood-fired pizzas.  Not to mention music by Voodoo Medicine Show, The Pulsators and the the Jug Dealers. Additionally there’s the Trash Fashion Show and meet the interns showcase as well as much more!

If you go: Tickets are $15 per person, 12 and under are free and tickets can be bought by clicking here or by calling (707) 472-2468. The celebration begins at 2 p.m.-11:59 p.m. at Solar Living Center 13771 S Highway 101 in Hopland.

 

Saturday:

The Healdsburg Art Walk, a monthly open house of downtown galleries and art shops takes place on the second Saturday of each month through December. Take a stroll around the Plaza and view great art with refreshments. A map is available at participating galleries and tasting rooms. will be holding a reception for their two new artists, Penny Michel and Mike Tinney between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at 132 Mill St Ste 101.

If you go: The free walk is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Healdsburg.
