Healdsburg Weekend Planner Aug. 5-7

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Check out some of the things on the Healdsburg Calendar and see if there's something for you.

Friday:

French flamenco Gypsy-style meltdown! All proceeds go to the Healdsburg Education Foundation to support the Enrichment program. Named "Best World Band" by the North Bay Bohemian, is an exciting mixture of French-Gypsy-Funk with a twist of Django-esque Flamenco. Since their inception nine years ago, the band has been creating quite a stir with their memorable and energetic performances. Dgiin's members are as diverse as their music and hail from France, El Salvador and Quebec. Their music ranges from Paco de Lucia flamenco to Django Reinhardt gypsy guitar with Tito Puente style salsa beats and unforgettable vocals.

If you go: General admission is $25 and can be bought by clicking here or at in Healdsburg and Sebastopol or The Last Record Store in Santa Rosa. The show starts at 8 p.m to 11 p.m.,. with the doors opening at 7 p.m. at , 115 North St. in Healdsburg.

The Eastside Bunch has joined forces with to support our local for this year’s Dog Days of Summer Open House. The open house will be held at all Eastside Bunch participating wineries in Healdsburg and include , , , , Merriem Vineyards, , , and Viszlay Vineyards. Dogs are not only welcome but essential! The Dog Days of Summer will be a jam packed affair appealing to humans and dogs alike.  Two and four legged guests should come prepared for a doggone good time featuring wine tastings, a hound lounge, “yapps and apps,” dog art and more.

Saturday:

will illuminate eager pupils to some music history as well as a variety of musical styles, and also present a repertoire of their much-loved signature tunes. This show is the latest in a series of Dan Hicks-created musical productions; now he pays tribute to the composers and artists he most admires, including Duke Ellington, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Richard Rogers, Paul Simon and, of course, himself!  School was never this much fun.

If you go: Tickets are $25-$35 and can be bought by clicking here. The show starts at 8 p.m. with the doors opening at 7 p.m. The is at 415 Center Street in Healdsburg.

 

Saturday

Join Rick Hutchinson barrel tasting; this will be your last chance to secure futures of select 2009 vintage lots before they're bottled at the end of August.  Many of these wines are just about sold out.

If you go: $10 per person; wine club members are free. The tasting is from 11 a.m.to 4 p.m. at Amphora Winery, 4791 Dry Creek Road in Healdsburg.

 

Sunday:

The Healdsburg Jazz Festival and Art and All That Jazz are getting together to have some fun, and invite you to join them.  Spend some time hanging out with pianist Noam Lemish and guitarist Kai Devitt-Lee. They will be joined on bass by Bill Fouty and some surprise guests (are you a player? Bring your ax!). Both Noam and Kai are leaving Healdsburg soon to pursue their music careers. Later in August, Kai is leaving to start college at the New School in New York City and Noam returns to Toronto, to finish his masters’ degree.

If you go: The free event is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 256 Moore Street in Healdsburg.
