Healdsburg Weekend Planner September 9-11

There's a whole lot going on this weekend. Check it out and see if there's something that interests you.

Friday:

Gaye Le Baron shares stories of the ranchers, the homesteaders, and even the rascals who shaped the history of Pepperwood and Eastern Sonoma County at a lecture on Friday evening at Pepperwood Preserve. This free talk, part of Pepperwood’s Discover Nature Lecture Series, will be at Dwight Center for Conservation Science located in the Preserve.

If you go: Light refreshments will be served at a 6 pm open house with the lecture to follow at 7 pm. Advance registration is not required. Pepperwood Preserve is at 2130 Pepperwood Preserve Road in Santa Rosa.  For more information call (707) 591-9310.

Seeds may continue to germinate for years if they have been properly harvested and stored. Master Gardener Electra de Peyster will explain the how and why of saving seeds for the home garden at a free class on Saturday. She will chart the cycle of starting, growing, gathering and storing seeds for this year’s crops and beyond

If you go: This free event is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the , 139 Piper Street in Healdsburg. 

 

Saturday:

Enjoy a lively evening at the T Barny Gallery & Sculpture Gardens to benefit the . There will be outstanding food from Restaurant, music by the Linda Ferro Band plus an amusing silent auction filled with twenty four unusual items linked to T Barny, Sculpture & Health. In addition, six spectacular examples of T Barny's sculptures will be sold in a live auction.

T30 is also the Release Party for T Barny's "Three Decades of Excellence," a coffee table book written by local journalist Ray Holley presenting the fascinating journey of the sculptor who through his tools, material exploration, marketing ingenuity and creative ability has produced 30 years of sculpture.

Saturday

Please join the Soroptimist International of Healdsburg as they host their 25th annual “Beer in the Plaza” festival. The festival includes more than thirty microbreweries, great music by the Soulshine Blues Band, delicious food and a silent auction. Proceeds benefit community services programs including the YWCA Women’s Shelter Safehouse, Sonoma County Risk Assessment Project and educational scholarships.

If you go: Admission is $20 and includes a souvenir glass and three drink tickets, with additional tickets for $1. Tickets for ages 8-20 are $10 and children under 8 are free. Tickets are available at , , and at the gate. The festival is in the , 298  Healdsburg Avenue in Healdsburg.

 

Saturday:

The Healdsburg Art Walk, a monthly open house of downtown galleries and shops takes place on the second Saturday of each month through December. Take a stroll around the Plaza and view the wonderful art that showcases the vigor of Healdsburg’s art community. A map is available at participating galleries and tasting rooms. Enjoy!  

If you go: This free event is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Healdsburg.

 

Sunday:

This year's Instant Wine Cellar (IWC) party, "A Taste of History" and raffle prize drawing will be held at Sbragia Family Vineyards. This is one of the Museum's most popular annual events, and this year they will raffle off three wonderful prizes - including an Instant Wine Cellar (comprising hundreds of wines donated by some of Sonoma Counties finest wineries). Come on by for some great music, wine, food, exhibits, and more!
