'Jazz On The Menu' Tonight

15 area restaurants have dinner and live music, plus an "after-party" at Costeaux French Cafe

"Where are you going for Jazz on the Menu?" is the question of the week here in Healdsburg, as the second annual draws closer. It will be held this Thursday, Feb. 2, at 15 area restaurants in Healdsburg and Geyserville - with an that, if last year was any indication, will be crowded with area jazz fans.

As at last year's event, the restaurants will donate a portion of their evening's food proceeds to the Healdsburg Jazz Festival's education programs, including Percussion, Song and Dance workshops, jazz in the schools through Operation Jazz Band and, for the first time this year, Black History Month.

It may be your last chance to celebrate at Ravenous, whose Center St. location will change hands at the end of the month. Trevor Kinsel and Jay Maher will be playing there

spoonbar! plays host to Christian Foley-Beining, Todd Smith and Tom Hayashi, while their kitchen serves up handmade pastas, hearty meat and fish dishes.

Sizzling Tandoor, one of Healdsburg's newest restaurants, has popular radio host Dick Conte at the piano, with Steve Webber on bass - and a $19.95 "Niravana dinner" special.

Other local favorites include Barndiva (with the Susan Sutton Trio), Bistro Ralph (Jim Adams and Tom Shader), Catelli's in Geyserville (Jimmy DeMartini and Phillip VanGelde), Healdsburg Bar and Grill (John Mihalik and the Blue 7 Quintet).

Some restaurants are reporting they are already booked up for the night - Charcuterie, Dry Creek Kitchen (with music till 10 pm), Baci Café and Zin Restaurant among them.

Three restaurants don't take reservations - so show up early to enjoy the music at Agave Mexican Restaurant (with Trio Batacha), Diavola Pizzeria in Geyserville (Ian Scherer and Steve Froberg) or El Farolito (Mad and Eddie Duran, with Robert Rangel).

...then there's the After-Party!

Once again the highlight of the night will be the After-Party at Costeaux, featuring two well-educated jazz combos - the SSU Faculty Jazz Band and the Healdsburg High School Jazz Band, plus wine and desserts from Costeaux's award-winning bakery.

The party lasts from 7:30 - 10 pm, and over 100 people have already bought tickets Advance tickets for the After-Party are only $10, for sale online and at the door - if there's any room inside! Or call the Healdsburg Jazz Festival at 707-433-4644.
