Other Events This Weekend You May Have Missed

Patch users have been contacting Patch all week saying, "Where's my event?" Turns out it's not your fault.

All week long some Patch users have contacted us with concerns that their events not showing up on the calendar, and other listings problems. But help is on the way.

At the moment we're experiencing an issue with indexing content on the site, which will cause newly-created content (like listings, events or announcements) to not appear in the search results. We're working to fix this now and it should be resolved shortly.

That's the message from Patch's Support desk, and while it doesn't mean all is well, it does mean the doctor is in the house. Hopefully, the cure is at hand.

In the meantime, at least one event you should know about is tomorrow, Saturday Feb. 16: the eighth anniversary of Hammerfriar Gallery. From 6 - 8 p.m. at the gallery on Mill St., curator Jill Plamman will host the opening of a new exhibit that celebrates the "Hammerfriar tradition of presenting the rich diversity of contemporary art in the North Bay."

This exhibit features "Obstacles," paintings by local artist Mike Tinney, a couple of which accompany this article. In addition, there will be a full-room installation by Christiane Michaela Vincent, "Fragile Light."

An installation is a spatial concept, not just a single piece of art. As such, it takes some time to complete.

"She's been working on the installation for a month straight," said Plamann. "We all have. We've been here until 12 every night, and come in early."

There will be chocolate-cherry cake. Get there early if you want a piece.

Another event not in the calendar is the 18th birthday of Midnight Sun, but since we've already featured that in an article we won't mention it here.

If you have an event this weekend or in the several days that you'd like to make sure Patch readers know about, please enter it in the Comment box below.
