Bear Republic a Winner in Harvest Fair Food Awards

Lists of food winners published today; coveted wine awards to come later.

Winners of the food awards for this year's Sonoma County Harvest Fair were announced today, ranging across a broad number of categories. Among the Special Award winners was the Tower Creole Burger from the  getting a "Best Use of Sonoma County Beef" Special Award.

The food winners were announced today on the Harvest Fair website; winners in the wine categories will be announced at an Awards Dinner planned for Sept. 24 that will include honors and recognition for all award winners.

At the Bear Republic, the menu includes a Jalapeño Tower Burger with spice blackened beef and creole sauce, which a server insisted was the award-winning dish. The burger comes stacked with cheese stuffed jalapeño pepper wrapped in bacon, deep-fried onion ring and melted jack cheese on a Sonoma County beef burger and seeded bun. Nutritional data was not available.
