Bear Republic Going The Distilled Spirits Route?

Hops flavored whiskey on the horizon from Healdsburg brew pub.

Healdsburg's Bear Republic Brewing Co. has always had a winner with its Racer 5 brand.

Now, it appears the venerable brew pub may be taking that win into another venue -- distilled spirits -- according to an article in Serious Eats blog.

According to the article, Racer 5 is the inspiration for "distilled beer," a new type of IPA whiskey from Charbay.
