Healdsburg's Jan. 28-29 Weekend

It's been raining, yes, but the storm is passing and blue skies return.

 

There are two art events in the downtown area -- a good way to start off your weekend in Healdsburg.

on Center Street has a collection of fine art paintings, glass sculpture jewelry on display, plus an with Clay Vajgrt, the gallery's resident artist. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The former location at 139 Healdsburg Ave. has a new tenant - Wine Country Estate & Design. They’ve got consignment furniture, original artwork and custom design consultation. 

Continuing Saturday, Jan. 28 after Friday night's successful opening night at the is , the multi-award winning stage show in its first local production. “It's the universal tale of fame, fortune, and all that jazz,” as they say; and the have been working extra-hard to give attendees their money’s worth. The production continues weekends until Feb. 10.

On Saturday, Jan. 28,  they will be celebrating Chinese New Years at , and along with the. Enjoy dim sum from Dim Sum Charlie’s vintage airstream, homemade fortune cookies and Chinese candies, free wine tasting and music.  It’s an all-day thing (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and 5 percent of proceeds go to support the Redwood Empire Chinese Association.

Another Saturday event, from 1 to 5 p.m., will be held at VML Winery on Westside Rd. (formerly). Winemaker Virginia Marie Lambrix will host live music from Taylor Brown, there will be barbecue tender tri-tip and sausage, and glasses of the newly released 2010 Single Vineyard Boudreaux Pinot Noir. Just in case it’s raining this will be an indoor event. More info is on the Chamber website.

Saturday night something unusual comes to town: Tango the Cheetah, one of the big cats from Project Survival. He (or is it a she?) will be the to be held at, a three-hour affair that includes dinner and wine at . All for $75, starting at 6 p.m.

Also Saturday, Johnny Gavello gives it his best shot with a “” benefit for his own on Mill Street. (opposite Carl’s Jr.). Music by The Remedies and reduced prices on beer, wine and hot dogs plus many free food dinner items will be available, along with a benefit raffle beginning at midnight. Johnny’s is one of the very, very few places in Healdsburg to support live music; show your support for Johnny’s by showing up.

And Sunday? Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the upper 60s and lows in the upper 30s. Chance of precipitation 10 percent. Take a hike.
