Simi Vineyard manager Tom Gore was named the 2013 Outstanding Young Person in Agribusiness by the Sonoma County Fair.
The award is given to five individuals or businesses for dedication and support to Sonoma County’s three billion dollar agriculture industry.
Gore won the award for his dedication to viticulture.
Gore manages approximately 1,400 acres over 12 properties in Sonoma County for Simi, Clos Du Bois, Ravenswood, and The Dreaming Tree wineries.
“I am so proud to be a part of the amazing agribusiness in Sonoma County, which is filled with so many dedicated and passionate people," Gore said in a prepared statement. " I’m also glad that somebody still considers me young!”
Gore is an active community member, working with Healdsburg High School on the development of a farm-to-table program and conducting workshops with the Sonoma County Wine Grape Commission Workforce Education Program on frost protection, water efficiency and field supervisor training, among other areas to help develop the local workforce.
