UPDATE: Art, Wine Events in Healdsburg Today

Art event at Parkpoint Health Club; NY Times Wine Critic Eric Asimov at Hotel Healdsburg.

NOTE: This story was updated on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012.

The long Veterans Day weekend continues today with two more unusual events, starting with your morning workout at Parkpoint Health Club in Healdsburg.

Artist Elisa Verchavska Musson, also on display at will be there at Parkpoint between 9 a.m. and noon to demonstrate her old masters techniques by creating a painting before your very eyes. Incredible.

The Parkpoint event is sponsored by the Ragan art gallery.

Later today New York Times wine critic Eric Asimov will be in the Grange Hall (on Matheson) at the Hotel Healdsburg, to share sips, talk about (and sign copies of) his new book How to Love Wine: A Memoir & Manifesto. The 55-year old writer and connoisseur knows his juice: his first journalistic exercise was a beer column he wrote in high school, so the 6:30 get-together should be fun. Admission is $15; but if you want to buy the book at $24.99 (buy it at Copperfield's or at the door) you get in free.

Following will be a special dinner at the Dry Creek Kitchen, where Asimov has selected wines that will be paired with a 3-course tasting menu conceived by Chef Charlie Palmer.  Tickets for the 8:30 p.m. dinner are $74; contact the Dry Creek Kitchen at 431-0330.
