Raise Your Wine Glass to Giving Back

Healdsburg's Wine Road Helps the Hungry.

The Redwood Empire Food Bank reaps the rewards of the Wine Road's record breaking barrel tasting event.

Over 25,000 people from nearly all 50 states flocked to Healdsburg to get their wine fill at the 33rd annual Wine Road Barrel Tasting event in March.

Healdsburg's very own Wine Road donated $1 per every ticket sold at the event to the Redwood Empire Food Bank.

If you combine that another $3,500 donated to the organization from Barrel Tasting attendees who donated when they bought their event tickets online and you have a grand total of $30,000 going to help fill the local food bank.

The Redwood Empire Food Bank has made it their mission to end hunger since 1987 and  currently help over 70,000 Sonoma County residents each month.

“We were so happy that this year’s Barrel Tasting event was such a success." said Beth Costa, executive director of the Wine Road. "With such a great year in which $2.5 million was generated in wine sales, it is an honor for the members of the Wine Road to have the opportunity to assist those who are less fortunate in Sonoma County with this donation.

"Year after year, our wineries and lodgings take pride in supporting this cause, and event patrons feel good about being part of a contribution to the community," Costa added. "We are happy to report that over the past five years, the Wine Road has donated a total of $160,000 to the REFB, and we look forward to continuing the partnership.”

Every year, the Wine Road donates $1 per ticket from each of their annual events, Winter Wineland, Barrel Tasting and Wine & Food Affair.

They will also be donating $1 from every “Ticket to the Wine Road” that they sell throughout the year.  In addition they are donating the $20 retail price from the sales of their “Tasting Along the Wine Road” cookbook, volume 10.
