Stark Wines Wins Injunction

Diageo Chateau barred from using similar wine label name.

As reported in Healdsburg Patch, Stark Wines has made a successful entry into the Healdsburg downtown tasting room scene.

Now comes word, via the Sacramento Bee, that Stark has also been successful in in a legal case against a winery using a similar wine branding label.

Diageo Chateau was prepared to release its "Stark Raving" wines, which a U.S. District Court judge said was confusingly similar to Stark's "Stark Wine" and "Stark Thirst" labels.

According to the article, the judge granted Stark a "preliminary injunction against Diageo Chateau and Estates, requiring Diageo to cease the advertisement, promotion, distribution and sale of its Stark Raving wines throughout Sonoma County, California."
