Weekend Planner for Healdsburg, Feb. 4-5

Sure it's Super Bowl Sunday, but there's more to do than watch the ads.

The upcoming weekend includes:

Saturday, Feb. 4: Take in 8 p.m. at the , Reports are it's really great, with standing O's for the cast. for the next two weekends as well.

Saturday, Feb. 4: Let your out-of-town friends know this is Chocolate Covered Month at the on North St. Chocolate treats will greet guests checking in, chocolate port will be available after dinner, chocolate will be on the menu every morning for breakfast … you get the idea. It's all month long with special midweek prices too, if you mention the Chocolate Package.

Thebrings Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" back to town, and introduces "The Artist" to Healdsburg filmgoers. With "The Descendants" continuing, that's three films Oscar-nominated for best picture. Also playing: "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" with (best actor nominee) Gary Oldman, and "The Iron Lady" with (best actress nominee) Meryl Streep.

Saturday, Feb. 4: Now that we've had the year's first rainfall, the topic is sure to be on everyone's mind. Our neighboring town of Windsor is partnering with the Sonoma County organization Daily Acts on this day-long tour and lecture at area homes that use innovative strategies to capture, store, and reuse rainwater in their landscapes. Christopher Peck will be your guide. Although this is a free event, registration is required to participate, so call 707-789-9664 or go online to Daily Acts.

Sunday, Feb. 5: Every year about this time it's , which means about half the country is glued to the TV to watch the commercials, the half-time show and some football.

This year keep an eye out for Petaluma's in a Chrysler ad, Madonna strutting her stuff and the Patriots to win 33-24. who visited Healdsburg last week for a fundraiser for Cathaven, is also in one of the commercials.

The other half of the country is doing something healthy like taking the Bike the Wine Road tour through the Wine Country, with stops at boutique wineries and bio-dynamic farms such as and or the. Getaway Adventures does this tour at a special rate of $119 (regularly $149).  Be sure to say "I saw it on Patch!"
