Heirloom Festival Sows Seeds of Sustainability

Traditional plants and alternate foods, which have become one and the same thing, on display at first-ever Heirloom Expo at the County Fairgrounds.

The first-ever National Heirloom Expo is running this week at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, featuring exhibitors from Amish farms in Pennsylvania to a pumpkin patch right outside of Healdsburg.

Local "talent" included Grandma's Pumpkin Patch attended by Grandma herself, Jenny Crawford; Early and Myrna Fincer of Earlybird's Place on Chalk Hill Road, Dan "the tomato man" Magneson of Soda Rock Farms, Alexander Valley.

The festival continues at the fairgrounds today until 9 p.m. Admission is $10; Today's schedule and other information at theheirloomexplo.com
