It's a Healdsburg Weekend, Dec. 2-4

There's more to do in Healdsburg than wine and dine -- although that's a good start. Just add mushrooms, hikes and Mother Goose.

What’s in your planner for this weekend? It’s the first such in December, which means carols, concerts, Santa and shopping.

Friday, Dec. 2: Discover the magnificent, moldy world of funghi.  Join local herbalist Autumn Summers  and Patrick Hamilton, author of The Mycochef, for a leisurely 10 a.m. saunter in the beautiful Riddell Preserve near Healdsburg looking for edibles.

: Take the kids, and while they’re sing-songing the Mother Goose rhymes from the children’s audio tour, you can listen to the real story of these familiar characters (on the adult version tour). Open Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 3:: Santa eats breakfast? Visit Costeaux Bakery on Saturday morning (also next Saturday, Dec. 10) from 9 to noon to dine with the big guy, or at least let your kids tell him what they really want for Christmas.

Sunday, Dec. 4:
Take a family hike in the Open Space Preserve just outside of Parkland Farms, exploring the newly opened trail system in this community asset, managed by Land Paths. Guided hike is free, 1 – 4 in the afternoon.

Food, drinks, entertainment at Villa Chanticleer  for Healdsburg residents only, 1:30 p.m.   This event is free and reservations are required. For more details please call (707) 431-3324.

: Chant the holiday season alive with a circle of friends at the Nand Collection Gallery, next to Café Gratitude. 5 p.m.

There are also several winery open houses to kick off the holiday shopping season, for the wine-lover on your list. See the Patch Calendar for information.
