Sandy the Swan Rides Again

Sandy returns from her debut at the July 23 Healdsburg Water Carnival to give rides for kids and adults on Labor Day.

will return to on Monday, Labor Day, to offer rides for kids and adults.

Sandy, who made her debut at the beach July 23 in the parade, will give rides from 12 to 4 p.m. to raise money for maintenance and improvements at the beach's dam.

Rides will cost $1 for children and $3 for adults.

"It should be fun," said Liz Keeley, a chief organizer of the "If you did not ride her before, you gotta try it -- it is so cool to be on the river on a swan!"

Keeley added that Sandy has been entered as a contestant in The Great Handcar Regatta, set for Sept. 25 at Railroad Square in Santa Rosa.

"We're working on her costume," Keeley said.
