Wind gusts over 13 mph are currently being reported from the southeast.

According to Bay City News, the weather system that is bringing rain to the Bay Area today has resulted in flight delays and cancellations at San Francisco International Airport.

As of 9:30 a.m., 32 arriving flights and 29 departing flights had already been canceled, according to SFO duty manager Larry Mares said.

"It's gonna be a tough day," he said.

Mid-morning, the airport was reporting delays averaging 30 minutes for both arrivals and departures because of a weather-related ground delay program put into effect by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA projects that delays of up to five hours are possible in a worst-case scenario, but Mares said that in reality, the delays likely will not be that lengthy.

Earlier today, the California Highway Patrol issued a wind advisory this morning on the Bay Bridge that went into effect at 3:39 a.m.  Drivers were advised to use caution while crossing the bridge, especially those in high-profile vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm system is expected to pass through the Bay Area sometime this afternoon, affecting the southern counties by this evening.

"It might be a bit gusty, especially up at the hilltops," forecaster Diana Henderson said. But no additional wind advisories are in effect or are anticipated.
