Noises Off

Called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off presents a manic
menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing
On. Doors slamming, onstage and backstage intrigue, and an errant
herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic
play.

What is it?
Contemporary British Farce

What’s the story? We see the play in rehearsal, the play in
performance from backstage (the set rotates at intermission), and
the play in performance late in its run, when all manner of
disasters occur. The actors' backstage relationships and their
onstage characters make this a laugh a minute delight.

Should you bring the kids?  Well … there is some mild
profanity and a lot of sexual innuendo. We recommend the show for
16+

Behind the scenes  One night as Frayn was in the wings
watching a farce he had written. "It was funnier from behind than in
front,” he says, “and I thought I must write a farce from behind."
