It's Bike to Work Day in Healdsburg

You won't be the only one riding or walking to work today - it's Sonoma County's most popular working holiday.

Getting up early make final arrangements for Bike to Work Day? Check the brake pads, make sure the chain is oiled, the seat is at the right level.

Don't worry, you won’t be alone. Bike to Work Day is one of the county’s favorite working holidays, with support from Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition alike.

Plus there many "Energizer Stations" in Sonoma County open in the morning from 6:00 -  9:00 a.m. Use the map at bikesonoma.org to locate one near you.

There is only one such station here in Healdsburg, at the Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Center. The Chamber with support from the Spoke Folk will have free beverages, snacks, and good cheer for bicyclists.

But it doesn't have to be your only stop, if you actually do "commute" any distance to work. Going south, the next Energizer Station is in Windsor, at the Town Green, hosted by the Town of Windsor.

Windsor is hosting a second Energizer Station, at Esposti Park on Old Redwood Highway, intersection of Shiloh.

For Airport commuters, there's one at the Carl's Jr. lot at Airport and Aviation, hosted by the Airport Fitness Club.

Wth a little judicious planning you can work your all the way to down Santa Rosa and try several more.

In fact, you may want to end up there after all:  the official Bike Home Celebration after-party is at the Trek Store (across from Glaser Center, 512 Mendocino Ave.) from 5—6:30 p.m., brought to you by Trek, the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, and the Climate Protection Campaign.

It starts around 5:00 pm at Trek's parking lot on the corner of Mendocino & 7th.  Win a bike in a benefit raffle, quaff Lagunitas and Anchor beer, enjoy a meal from the food trucks, and be in our big group photo shoot at about 6:00, (bring your bike!). The fabulous Hubbub Club brass band will play, there'll be a kids’ craft table and free bike parking too. More info on Facebook.
