Do you know someone who has done extraordinary things at the risk of their lives in a moment of crisis or in a lifetime of service to others?
If so, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and its Foundation is seeking nominations of its Citizen Honors Awards.
Your hero could be a family member, neighbor, friend, or coworker, who has risked his or her life to save others, or has selflessly given time and resources to help others in need.
This year's recipients included teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary who protected their students during the tragic shooting, a father and son who used their boat to rescue 120 people during Hurricane Isaac after official rescues were called off, and a priest who created a homeless support center that offers assistance, counseling and job training and is now modeled throughout the U.S.
Nominations are now open through January 10 and awards will be given out at a ceremony in March. For more information, visit http://www.cmohs.org/
