Bizarre Phone Calls

Recently a number of my clients have told me stories of "Microsoft" calling them at home, telling them their computers are infected and asking that they turn on their computers and follow a set of instructions.  So far it seems (based on the accents of the callers) that this is more than likely some hackers in another country trying to gain access to a computer.  The whole thing is so strange, I'm at a loss to explain what these callers might hope to gain by this attack.  It seems ridiculously labor intensive and expensive if the intent to to get the end user to install malicious software on their computers and certainly extremely suspect.  So to be clear... Microsoft will NEVER call you to ask you to do anything to your computer!  You can read the following bulletin for more information:
