Healdsburg Chef Wins Bravo's 'Top Chef Masters'

A Sonoma County dog rescue organization will receive $120,000 with Douglas Keane's victory.

Douglas Keane, the chef of the now-shuttered Healdsburg restaurant Cyrus, was crowned the winner of Bravo's "Top Chef Masters" reality show Wednesday night.

"It was a hard journey and I was just focused on putting out food and now I've won it," Keane said in a video interview posted on Bravo's website.

Keane's victory will bring with it a $120,000 donation to the Green Dog Rescue Project, a group that sees itself as a sort of alternative animal shelter. The organization houses dogs–most of which were previously slated to be euthanized–and socializes them in large groups to make them more attractive candidates for adoption.

The Green Dog Rescue Project is currently housed in Windsor, but hopes to find a permanent facility in Healdsburg.

As for Keane, the San Francisco Chronicle reports he's working on DK Wings, a chicken-wing eatery that will be located inside the Graton Resort and Casino in Rohnert Park; he's also writing a cookbook and developing an ingredient-finding smartphone app, the Chronicle says.
