It’s the kind of contest a beer lover could get behind.
Organized like a basketball tournament, with contestants of the finest brews in the country, and a Kegerator for a grand prize.
Once again Draft Magazine’s Beer Bracket is underway, and again Healdsburg’s own Bear Republic is in the running with its flagship brew, Racer 5.
Like the NCAA March Madness, there are 64 brews chosen from across the country, in head to head (sic) elimination contest until a winner is chosen. The top brewery will get $1000 for their charity of choice.
Last year Racer 5 made it through to the Sweet Sixteen, when they lost out to something called Double Jack. But they're entering again this year, trying to win that $1000 pot for the Healdsburg Education Foundation.
But it’s far from a sure thing: In the first round, Racer 5 is matched against Murphy’s Irish Stout. And St. Patrick’s Day is still fresh in memory.
Here’s where you come in. Go to Draft Magazine’s Beer Bracket 2013, enter to play, and cast your vote for Racer 5.
Bear Republic Brewing Co. is asking Healdsburg’s beer-lovers to vote Racer 5 IPA into the winners circle. According to Draft Magazine, “Your beer is delicious, but the only thing that counts here is getting the most votes so get your fans to weigh in and help their favorite bring home the championship.”
Need a little personal motivation? Each person who fills out a bracket will be entered into a contest to win a home beverage station, which includes glassware, tap handles, bar decor, and other accessories, plus a Kegerator.com kegerator.
How's that for chill?
