43-Year-Old Healdsburg Man Killed in Crash Near Graton

The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified the victim of a fatal crash in Graton on Saturday evening as 43-year-old Ignacio Velasquez-Cruz, of Healdsburg.

Velasquez-Cruz was driving a 1990 Ford Taurus north on Green Valley Road at about 50 mph when the crash happened at the state Highway 116 intersection around 5:15 p.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Jon Sloat said.

Sloat said Velasquez-Cruz drove through a stop sign and directly into the path of a 1991 GMC Sierra that was traveling east on Highway 116 at 40-45 mph.

He was killed when the Sierra truck hit the driver's side of the Ford, Sloat said.

Two passengers in the Ford complained of pain and were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Sloat said.

The driver of the GMC Sierra suffered minor injuries.
