Autopsy Shows Morales Suffered Multiple Gunshot Wounds
The Sonoma County Coroner's Office as released the results of their autopsy of Urbano Morales, who was shot on Saturday June 8, 2013, after he charged deputies with a knife.
Morales had stabbed the mother of their common adult son at the Town Green Starbucks in Windsor following a night of turmoil and police intervention. The 60-year old woman has been released from the hospital.
Morales then turned his knife on himself, and ran toward police when confronted him a block away. The officers were identified yesterday as Donald Fletcher and Andrew Cash, who have 10 and 14 years' experience, respectively, according to the sheriff's office. Both are on paid administrative leave.
The autopsy took one and a half days to complete due to the amount and severity of his injuries.
Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Kelly Arthur-Kenny, determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds. Morales was struck several times in his torso and extremities. Morales sustained major injuries to his heart, left lung, liver and intestines.
Contributing conditions were listed as multiple superficial stab wounds to his abdominal area of which none were life threatening. Toxicology test were requested but the results will not be available for approximately two weeks.
