Bicyclist Killed in Forestville Car Accident Identified

The Sonoma County coroner's office today identified a bicyclist who was killed by a car while riding a mountain bike in Forestville on Saturday evening as 49-year-old Elmer Raddohl Jr.
Raddohl, a Forestville resident, was riding south on Mirabel Road south of Speer Ranch Road around 7:30 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a southbound 1988 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 59-year-old woman from Forestville, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The impact threw Raddohl off his bike and onto the road's right shoulder, a CHP spokesman said. Raddohl, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, who was driving at an estimated 40 mph, said she did not see Raddohl, according to the CHP.

Alcohol or drugs were not believed to have contributed to the collision, CHP officials said.
