Big Rig Down on River Road, Spills Diesel Fuel

Unseasonable rain squall at approximate time of 7 am accident

The California Highway Patrol is reporting that at approximately 7:00 a.m., CHP officers responded to a call of a collision involving a big rig on River Rd. near Martinelli Rd.  

The driver of the big rig driving westbound on River Rd. lost control and ran off of the roadway, crashing into the guardrail and coming to rest blocking the roadway. 

The collision caused the fuel tank to rupture and spill several gallons of diesel fuel, requiring  a response from the county hazardous materials unit.

One way traffic control was in effect until approximately 9:20 a.m. Crews remain on scene at this time to remove contaminated dirt. 

The driver was not injured and the CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
