Busy Earth Day Weekend for Healdsburg Police Department

Multiple incidents on Saturday, Sunday represent apex of busy week for local law enforcement

Wednesday, April 17, at 2:17 in the morning, someone was reported living in a locked facility at Double O Mini Storage on Adeline Way. Officers contact John Cast, 25, and Joelle Marie Orr, 28, who were apparently staying in a storage unit. The reporting party "did not want to pursue charges as Cast does rent a unit," however both were arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and Orr was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia as well. They were transported to the Police Department for booking, and will be transported to County Jail.

Also on Wednesday, at 1:43 p.m. it was reported that a Volkswagen parked next to a truck in front of Plaza Paint on Center St and lodged its tire under the truck. When police arrived the owner of the VW showed up, and the "issue was resolved, no damage to either vehicle."

Thursday, April 18, at 2:19 a.m., Officers initiated activity at the Dry Creek Inn and contacted Luis Alberto Sanchez-Ortiz, 22, who was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the PD for booking, and later the County Jail. Another person in the vehicle was allowed to go on his way, though the vehicle was left parked at the scene.

At 10:31 later that morning, a probation violation occurred when the parolee let his GPS device go dead. Keith Newell was not found where expected on W. Matheson; the parolee was eventually located, arrested and transported to County Jail.

Friday, April 19, just after 10 p.m., a reckless  was reported at Fuschia Way and Daisy St. Police were unable to locate the driver who was gone on arrival.

On Saturday, April 20, a former employee of Rivers Edge Kayak and Canoe was reported harassing the business with text message and phone calls following his termination two weeks ago. A report was taken.

At 2:17 p.m, officers responded to reports of graffiti on Theresa Ct., on the side of a fence facing Lupine.

At 6:13 p.m., 4/20, someone reported an assault on the railroad tracks behind Big John's Market; officers and Fire Department responded. The man assaulted, Jason Robertson, declined medical attention and said he know who assaulted him, but he refused to cooperate with officers, saying he had "assaulted someone last night,and felt that this was a pay back for that altercation." A man and two women were located on the tracks behind the market, who said they had not seen anyone on the tracks during the time Robertson said he had been assaulted.

At 10:24 p.m. Saturday night, a prowler was reported on Matheson St. - "an unknown male, dressed only in a pair of underwear, was inside her residence." Officers contact Brad Pitkin at the front door, who appeared intoxicated. He was arrested, booked and transported to County Jail. Read the full report here.

Late Saturday night, at 11:44 p.m., two intoxicated men had a fight in the Hotel Healdsburg restroom and damaged the facilities. Before police arrived one had gone up to his room, while the other returned to the Dry Creek Kitchen to eat. No one wanted to press charges so no action was taken.

Sunday, April 21, at 3:52 p.m., a transient riding a blue and yellow bike on the property of Russian River Trailer Park who was drinking alcohol refused to leave on request. Police were unable to locate the suspect, identified as Shawn Dixon, 43, of no known address. He has been asked not to return to the trailer park, and police are to keep an eye out for him.

At 4:29 p.m, it was reported via 911 that someone had brandished a gun at him in the 300 block of March Ave. The caller was a Spanish speaking man who said he had taken a woman to that address, asking them to take her in and care for her, as her daughter was living there. The female occupant of the house brandished a pistol and refused to do so. The incient is under investigation.

At 5:16 it was reported that two men hit and kicked the reporting party "in the gut." The two ran away, and a report was taken for "assault with a deadly weapon."

At 6:03 p.m. the same Sunday afternoon, Officer Shooter initiated a traffic stop at Grove St. in Healdsburg for alleged drug activity, and Thomas A. Menghini, 31, was arrested and transported to city jail.

At 8:26 p.m., a complaint was received of someone parked near March and University  with loud music coming from his vehicle. Contact was made, the music was turned down.

Sunday night at 10:47 an apparent drunk driver was reported at Becoming Independent on Center St. as the driver was "weaving on the roadway." The reporting party followed the vehicle to a parking lot, where two officers contacted both men. According to the report, "The driver was not intoxicated. He was just very tired, but he was home now."

At 11:50 pm that same night, officers advised HQ that they were attempting to catch up with a motorcycle northbound on Hwy. 101. Police caught up with the driver who stopped at the bottom of the Geyserville Ave. off-ramp. The driver, Jeremy Patrick Hall, 21, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and evading a police officer, and transported to the police department for booking. The motorcycle was stores by ABC Towing, and bail was met through Aladdin Bail Bonds.

Early the next morning, Monday, April 22 at 1:23 a.m., a resident near town off Westside Rd. on W. Grant reported hearing the sound of a crash and squealing tires, which he initially thought came from the freeway. Responding officers checked the freeway, as well as nearby streets including Kinley Dr., but nothing was located.
