CHP Investigates motorcycle crash near Lake Sonoma

Collision was Sunday on Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road.

A 28-year-old Rohnert Park man suffered a broken ankle and was cited for several offenses after the motorcycle he was riding crashed on a curve along Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

Edwin Palacios was found at the scene by California Highway Patrol officers and Geyserville Fire Protection District firefighters, according to a news release from CHP.

CHP said that the incident is under investigation and the motorcycle Palacios was riding was impounded.

"A preliminary investigation indicates that Palacios was negotiating a curve at a high rate of speed when he lost control," the CHP said. "Palacios was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a broken ankle."

Police said Palacios was driving without a license and did not have proof of insurance. Palacios will be issued a citation to appear in court, the CHP said

According to the news release,  CHP has increased patrols in the areas of Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road and Dry Creek Road for reckless drivers with the advent of warmer weather.

In conjuction with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department and the CHP will continue increased patrols throughout the year and has a zero-tolerance policy for dangerous driving, the release said.
