CHP sees injury accident, issues cautions

Black ice, slippery roads are a problem.

An injury accident occurred mid-morning today on southbound Highway 101 just past the East Washington exit in Petaluma, the California Highway Patrol reported.

CHP said the accident is blocking the left lane, so motorists should expect delays.

Also, the CHP  reported that Valley Ford-Freestone Road east of state Highway 1 in Sonoma County is closed due to flooding.  The road typically floods in that area during heavy rain, according to CHP Sgt. Robert Mota.

The road in western Sonoma County between Bodega Highway and Highway 1 closed around 8 a.m., Mota said. The road is expected to slowly drain now that heavy rain in that area has stopped, Mota said.

The CHP expects roads in the county to be icy Saturday morning if temperatures dip into the 20s overnight, Mota said.

Leveroni Road near Arnold Drive in southern Sonoma County was closed this morning when a SUV struck a light pole and knocked down wires around 6:50 a.m., according to the CHP.

The pole fell across the roadway and PG&E crews responded to the incident. No injuries were reported.
