Crash Involving Possible Suicidal Driver Reported on Hwy 12 in Santa Rosa

A crash involving a possibly suicidal driver in Santa Rosa this evening sent at least one person to the hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP first responded to reports of a person in distress driving on state Highway 12 in Santa Rosa just before 7 p.m., the CHP said.

Despite attempts by CHP officers to make a traffic stop, the driver continued on Highway 12 until getting off at the Fulton Road offramp, running a red light and crashing, the CHP said.

An ambulance was called and at least one person was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, the CHP said.

Surface streets were shut down in the area and the Santa Rosa Police Department took over as the main investigating agency, the CHP said.

Santa Rosa police confirmed there was a crash in the area but declined to provide further details.
