Federal Fugitive Arrested in Area Friday

Officers learned that Domingo Tamayo, a Santa Rosa resident who had a federal arrest warrant for escaping Lompoc Prison, was in the area.

A 34-year-old federal fugitive was arrested Friday morning in Santa Rosa, police said.

Officers learned that Domingo Tamayo, a Santa Rosa resident who had a federal arrest warrant for escaping Lompoc Prison, was in the area.

Following an investigation, police said search warrants were executed at several locations throughout the city in connection with the investigation.

Officers arrested Tamayo at about 8 a.m. on Friday, according to police.

During the searches, police located about 50 pounds of marijuana, a loaded handgun and $10,000 in cash.

In addition to the arrest warrant, Tamayo was arrested for possession of marijuana for sales, cultivation of marijuana, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being armed in the commission of a felony, theft of utility services and child endangerment, police said.
