No injuries were reported.

A fire that started in a wood stove destroyed a home near Jenner on the Sonoma County coast this morning, a fire official said.

A 19-year-old woman who was living in the home at 1555 Muniz Ranch Road escaped with her cat, ran to a neighbor's house and reported the fire at about 9:40 a.m., Monte Rio Fire Chief Steve Baxman said from the scene Tuesday morning.

She said the inside of the 1,100-square-foot, two-story wood house was burning when she left, according to Baxman.

The woman lived with her 67-year-old father, who was not home at the time the fire started, Baxman said.

The blaze was visible from state Highway 1 and the house "was gone before anyone got there," Baxman said.

Baxman said the first water was applied to the fire about 20 minutes after it was reported.

Firefighters from Monte Rio, Timber Cove, Cal Fire, Bodega Bay, Forestville, Occidental and Cazadero responded, Baxman said.

The owner of the house lives in Australia, he said.

The wood stove was too close to an un-insulated wall, Baxman said.

"It didn't have the right clearance," Baxman said.
