Healdsburg firefighter injured in Fitch Mountain blaze
Home on Del Rio Woods was unoccupied, sustained $225,000 in damages.
A Healdsburg firefighter was injured Friday morning in a blaze at a private home in the Fitch Mountain area.
Chief Steve Adams said the fire broke out at a home at 2753 Del Rio Woods Road at about 10:20 a.m. Friday. No one was home at the time, he said.
"We had it under control in about 45 minutes," Adams said.

He said the firefighter, whom he declined to identify, suffered an upper back injury from falling debris and was taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He was still under observation Friday evening, Adams said.
Damages were estimated at $225,000, Adams said. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire, including whether it might have started from faulty electrical wiring in the laundry room.

A total of eight engines and 28 firefighters were assigned to the incident from the Healdsburg Fire Department, Geyserville, Windsor, Rincon Valley, Cloverdale and Forestville Fire Districts.
Healdsburg, which covers the unincorporated Fitch Mountain area under contract with Sonoma County Fire Department, was the first responder with three engines, Adams said.
He said it was a difficult fire due to problems with access.
"Upon arrival firefighters encountered heavy fire involvement, with flames visible from the second floor windows of a two-story residential structure," Adams said.
"Upon entering the structure, the fire was burning on the first floor and completely burned out the stairway to the second floor.
"Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire on the first floor and had to access the second floor with ground ladders, allowing them to extinguish and contain the heavy fire involvement on the second floor," he said.
