Healdsburg Man in Custody on Suspicion of Assault With a Deadly Weapon

Anthony Edward Fernandez is in Sonoma County Jail after police said he was accused of allegedly brandishing a knife during a family dispute at a Healdsburg home on Sunday.

A Healdsburg man is in custody in Sonoma County Jail after a family dispute over the weekend where a witness told police that he brandished a knife.

Anthony Edward Fernandez, 20, of Healdsburg was being held on $20,000 bail pending a hearing later today on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, jail staff said.

Healdsburg police Cpl. Tanya Potter and officers Katie Close and Scott Eland arrested Fernandez at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the grounds of where he had fled on foot after the incident at a home on Lupine Road in Healdsburg.

Police said a family member called 9-1-1 from the Lupine Road home, telling them that Fernandez was brandishing the knife and had been yelling and threatening the caller's mother, who had then fled the scene.

Healdsburg Poice Sgt. John Haviland said the mother, after she ran away, had notified the caller, who went back to the house to check up and found Fernandez still at the home.

"He told [Fernandez] he needed to leave the house, and then he said [Fernandez] pulled out a knife," Haviland said.

"There was some family relation, but I'm not sure exactly what it was," said Haviland, who was not on duty Sunday night.

After the 9-1-1 call was made, Fernandez took off on foot and ran to Healdsburg High School, Haviland said.

Healdsburg officers arrested Fernandez and brought him back to the city police station, where Fernandez complained of feeling ill, accorrding to the police report.

After a check by and ambulance personnel, Potter took Fernandez to , where he was cleared for any medical emergencies.

Officer Nadia Mohamed then took him to Sonoma County Jail, the police report said.
