Healdsburg Police Bust Uncovers 650 Pot Plants

People in home had medical marijuana cards, but police say amount indicates it was grown for sale

Healdsburg police are investigating activities at a home where officers discovered  more than 650 marijuana plants over the weekend.

Healdsburg Police Sgt. Luis Rodriguez said that officers discovered the plants "in several stages of growth" during execution of a search warrant at a home in the 1500 block of Healdsburg Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

"It was suspected that the residence was involved in cultivation of marijuana," Rodriguez said in a news release Saturday. "Upon service of the search warrant, officers discovered over 650 marijuana plants in several stages of growth."

Rodriguez said two of the residents, whom he declined to identify, had a medical recommendation for marijuana.

"However, due to the large amount of marijuana it was suspected that they were not within legal guidelines for medical marijuana use," Rodriguez said. "Several hundred marijuana plants were seized."

He said the investigation was ongoing.

"Once completed, we will be submitting the results to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office for review of charges," Rodriguez said in the release. "Due to the ongoing investigation, further details will not be released at this time, including the names of the residents."
