Healdsburg police investigate drive-by shooting

Bullets from gunshots, determined to be gang-related, fournd at home on Kennedy Lane near Healdsburg Memorial Bridge on May 31. No one injured, but one bullet came close to resident watching television in living room.

Healdsburg Police are investigating possible gang connections in a drive-by shooting this week near

Healdsburg Police Sgt. Matt Jenkins said the incident occurred May 31 at approximately 11:30 p.m.

"We received several calls of gunshots heard in the area of Kennedy Lane near Memorial Bridge," Jenkins said in a news release Saturday evening. "Police units responded and contacted the residents, who told officers that someone had driven by the house and fired several gunshots."

Jenkins said the residents at the home were not injured. However, they were hesitant to provide further information regarding a vehicle description or information on any suspects involved. 

 He said Healdsburg officers searched the area and neighborhood, but did not locate any suspects or witnesses to the incident.

"A check of the residence revealed that two apparent bullets had penetrated the front walls, near the front door and continued into the living room walls where one of the victims had been watching television," Jenkins said. " A third bullet was located right outside the front door."

 No other damage was located or reported by any other neighbor, he said.

Healdsburg detectives later determined the drive-by shooting was gang-related, Jenkins said. 

"Detectives are following leads involving possible suspects," Jenkins said. "The investigation is ongoing."
