Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies are on the lookout for a man who is suspected of stabbing a woman in her abdomen as she walked home from a bar early this morning.
Police say that a woman was walking home from a bar in Guerneville, in the area of Old River Road and Orchard Avenue, around 2 a.m., when a man brandishing a large, fixed-blade hunting knife jumped out of some bushes and demanded money.
"The victim looked down to retrieve the money out of her purse and the suspect began swinging the knife at her," a Sonoma County Sheriff's press release stated. "The suspect was able to cut the victim causing an approximate 6" superficial laceration across her abdomen area. The victim then punched the suspect in the face and they both fell to the ground. The suspect got up and fled the area on foot."
Police arrived in the area, but were unable to locate the man. The suspect is described as a white male adult, 35-40 years old with a thin build and short brown hair.
"The victim described the suspect as a,'tweeker' looking individual," the press release said. "The suspect was wearing a black Nike jacket with a, 'swoosh' logo on the front. The suspect was unknown to the victim. "
The description of the suspect is similar to the one provided during an incident at the Faerie Ring Campground, where the suspect fled and escaped, but was later arrested.
