Mom, 30, Arrested for Abuse of Child She Claims Bullied Her Daughter, Sonoma Deputies Say
The incident reportedly took place Friday at a Santa Rosa school where witnesses claim the mother grabbed an 11-year-old by the throat.
A 30-year-old woman was arrested Friday in Sonoma County after staff at a grammar school reported she grabbed a child by the throat after claiming the victim bullied her daughter, Sonoma County Sheriff's Office deputies said.
Delia Garcia-Bratcher, of Santa Rosa, was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony inflicting an injury on a child and released on a bail bond of $30,000, according to deputies.
The Sheriff's Office was dispatched at 1:40 p.m. Friday to the Olivet Elementary Charter School on Willowside Road in an unincorporated county area about two miles west of Santa Rosa on a report by school employees about child abuse.
Members of the school's staff told deputies that Garcia-Bratcher arrived on the school grounds without checking in at the front desk and had her son point out an 11-year-old student who the woman believed had bullied her daughter there.
She confronted the child and grabbed the victim by the throat in front on many school children, including her son, and allegedly threatened the student about the bullying, the deputies said.
The school staff took photos of red marks on the student's neck that deputies decided were consistent with an adult taking hold of the child's neck.
A deputy interviewed numerous children at the school about the incident before arresting Garcia-Bratcher, according to the sheriff's office.
